Not Your Skin explores the lives of 4 transgender families across USA and across generations.

The film wil Premiere on November 3rd, 2018 as part of The Valley Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Synopsis:
10-year-old Kylee is only starting her journey and her family is considering hormone blockers. Her parents changed her name and gender on her birth certificate and struggle with transitioning what they though was their son into a little girl that Kylee wants to be. They are preparing her for the start of hormone therapy and slowly sharing their little secret with closest family and friends. At Kylee’s previous school, an anonymous tip was made to social services and the family had to deal with the danger or losing their one and only child. They overcame this major setback and finally were able to explain to the state, that their little boy has chosen himself to be a girl and they are not forcing him to be one.
On the contrary, 70-year-old Lindsie is finally at the end of her journey. After spending 60 years in the wrong body and fathering 2 children, she is finally living the life she always wanted to have, exploring life around her as a woman and a grandmother. Lindsie’s life was full of adventure and also setbacks. Her first wife and mother of their two sons died suddenly when the babies were very small. Lindsie, who lived her life as a man became a single father and quickly remarried for the second time to be able to live life as normal, as possible. His new wife was not able to accept Lindsie for what he thought he was and their marriage fell apart when the children grew up. Finally alone, Lindsie decided she will live the rest of her life on her terms and never considered to introduce herself otherwise again. She put her life savings toward her surgery so she can have a full female body.
Newlyweds Lisa and CJ Foster only recently transitioned and fell in love. CJ, who was born with female body is going through the last stages of his transition and our crew followed him as he prepared for phalloplasty, went through the surgery and is experiencing some post-operation complications. Lisa transitioned from male to female last year and had to leave her religious group as well as some close family members behind, because of her choice. She is currently taking care of her husband CJ, helping him become the man he always wanted to be.
Finally, identical twins Nicole and Jonah who recently turned 18 years old, are dealing with the few remaining steps for Nicole to no longer be the twin brother Jonah had when they were born. Nicole was able to go through her sex reassignment surgery and her family wrote book about their journey called Becoming Nicole. Her parents advocate for better acceptance of transgender youth everywhere and the twins main focus is on getting their education and starting lives as normal as they can have. Jonah desires little individuality away from what he is known to be. He believes, he can have career on the silver screen and be a bit more than just the twin brother who is not transgender.
Nicole dreams of becoming a video game animator and finding a boy, who will understand her and who she is and love her for it. One day she wants to walk down the isle and raise many children.
