TWO EYES STARING wins best film and screenplay at Fantasporto

The Psychological thriller TWO EYES STARING (original title: ZWART WATER) by Dutch writer/director Elbert van Strien has won the Grand Prix Best Film Award of the 31st edition of the International Film Festival of Porto 2011 (Fantasporto), and also the Award for Best Screenplay.

"...the film "Two Eyes Staring" by Elbert van Strien is the Grand Prize Best Film Award Winner of Fantasporto 2011. The Dutch film that will be the object of an American remake with Charlize Theron in the title role, conquered the Jury of the Official Section of Fantastic Film's favour, a jury composed of directors Mick Garris (USA) and Julian Grant (Can) and the

Spanish journalist Raoul Gil Toural."

The jury:

"This is a sophisticated psychological thriller with shades of horror about how we deform the reality from what we see. With a surreal atmosphere, surrounded by seemingly normal, a reminder of the films by David Lynch or Alfred Hitchcock."

TWO EYES STARING is written by Elbert van Strien and Paulo van Vliet and produced by Claudia Brandt and Elbert van Strien for Accento Films.

TWO EYES STARING had its Dutch première in March 2010 and was screened at different international film festivals (such as: Edinburgh, Pifan (South Korea), Fantasy Filmfest Germany, Ghent, Taipei Golden Horse).

In TWO EYES STARING the nine-year-old Lisa discovers her sinister new friend is the ghost of the dead twin of Lisa's mother. Then Lisa's father also begins to suspect his wife of hiding a terrible secret, resulting in deadly consequences...
