Screening February 23rd - Fantasporto opening
Anna Karenina Vronsky's story will open the festival gala ceremony, Karen Shakhnazarov, director, attending the Rivoli Presentation.
Karen Shakhnazarov is a Russian director, producer and screenwriter born in July 1952 in Krasnodar, the son of a politician of Armenian origin and a Russian lady. He has a wide-ranging filmography, including the films "White Tiger", 2012, Russia's Oscar nominee for best foreign film that year, "Palata N ° 6" (2009) and "Den polnoluniya" (1998)
Since 1998 he has been the director general of Mosfilm Studios, Russia's most important film studio, with a size comparable only to the larger Hollywood studios.
Fantasporto has dedicated a retrospective to the work of Karen Shaknazarov in the 2012 edition, the year in which the Russian director was also awarded the Fantasporto Career Award. The following year, his film "White Tiger" was awarded the Fantasporto Award for Best Director and Special Jury Prize. His is the opening film of Fantas at 8.30pm. As always, at Rivoli.
