Fantasporto Program of Saturday 9th leading to the Awards Ceremony

AN HOMAGE TO THE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE AT FANTASPORTO'2022
CLOSING SESSION and AWARD SESSION

The organization of the 42nd FANTASPORTO is pleased to join the wave of solidarity with Ukraine that is being felt throughout the world.
Today, at the official closing of Fantasporto 2022, there will be a tribute to the Ukrainian People, which will be attended by Ms. Consul of the Republic of Ukraine, who will bring with him a message from the Ambassador of Ukraine to Portugal. In this CLOSING SESSION and also the FESTIVAL AWARDS DELIVERY, to take place at 8.45 pm, the PORTO INTERNATIONAL CINEMA FESTIVAL - FANTASPORTO will present the feature film EVERYTHING, NOTHING AND SOMETHING ELSE by Marina Kondratieva in a WORLD Preview. The film will be presented by its co-producer, herself a refugee from the War, who will also step onto the stage at Rivoli.

The film is a dramatic comedy that illustrates the life of a taxi driver in Kiev and the people he crosses paths with during one night. The human variety is combined with the small and large dramas of everyday life, in a narrative made by nine stories based on real episodes. Stories of life and death, humanity and chaos. Filmed on the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, it recalls its architectural beauty and the everyday life of a big city. This recent film is the second feature film by Ukrainian director Marina Kondratieva, also an excellent documentary filmmaker, and features popular actors such as Denis Granchak, Tatiana Ignashkina, Anton Ravitskiy, Yuriy Kondratiev and Kateryna Molchanova among others.
That same day, in the afternoon, it's time for great and unforgettable movie classics of all time.
At 3.30 pm, CASABLANCA by Michael Curtiz will be shown, celebrating the 80th anniversary of its world premiere, a film considered by many film magazines as the best ever.
At 5:45 pm, the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the world premiere of the fantastic SINGIN' IN THE RAIN by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, an unforgettable work, both for its music and for the scenes that have gone down in cinema history such as those performed by Gene Kelly.

At 24.00hs, a glorious CULT FILM that celebrates 50 years of its debut is shown, THX 1138, directed by George Lucas, who would later give us STAR WARS.

In the Small Auditorium
In the Small Auditorium of Rivoli, there is continuous cinema from 3 pm with the science fiction film, coming from Taiwan, 2049:THE HEDGEHOG EFFECT, a WORLD PREVIEW, the delicious NINOTCHKA directed by Ernest Lubitch, with the glorious Greta Garbo, the Galician film , already multi-awarded, JACINTO, by Javi Camino, ending the day with the highly acclaimed BABY ASSASSINS by Hugo Sakamoto from Japan, this one in European PREVIEW.
A great day, with lots of good cinema, at this FANTASPORTO that pays homage to the UKRAINIAN PEOPLE in the prize-giving session awarded by the three international juries of this 42nd edition of the event.

And...Sunday will be the day to see 8 of the award-winning films at this year's Festival, with continuous sessions, starting in the two auditoriums of Rivoli, at 15.00hs and 15.15hs respectively. It's Fantas saying goodbye until April 24, 2023, this time in a new house, Batalha - Cinema Center.
