European Film Awards


The European Film Awards are presented in 15 categories and take place in Berlin every second year.

 Every year, the various activities of the European Film Academy culminate in the ceremony of the European Film Awards which are presented jointly with EFA Productions GmbH. In a total of 18 categories, among them European Film, European Director, European Actress and European Actor, the European Film Awards annually honour the greatest achievements in European cinema.

The awards ceremony takes place in Berlin every second year. In the other years, the Awards travel: London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Tallinn and Malta.

The European Film Academy announces nominations in the categories European Short and Animated Feature Film

The European Film Academy revealed the nominees of the categories “European Animated Feature Film” and “European Short Film”. The committee which decided on the nominations for European Animated Feature Film was comprised of representatives of the European Film Academy and CARTOON, the European Association for Animation Film. The nomination committees will be presented on www.europeanfilmawards.eu after the publication of the nominations.
 
The category “European Short Film” is organised by the European Film Academy in co-operation with a series of film festivals across Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presented one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy. Out of the complete list of 29 candidates, the participating festivals nominated five films for the European Film Awards.The 4,600 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the overall winners.

 

Nominations “European Animated Feature Film”

  • A GREYHOUND OF A GIRL directed by Enzo d'Alò (Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland, United Kingdom, Latvia, Estonia, Germany)
  • CHICKEN FOR LINDA! directed by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach (France, Italy)
  • ROBOT DREAMS directed by Pablo Berger (Spain, France)
  • THE AMAZING MAURICE directed by Toby Genkel (Germany, United Kingdom)
  • WHITE PLASTIC SKY directed by Tibor Bánóczkia and Sarolta Szabó (Hungary, Slovakia)

Nominations “European Short Film”

  • 27 directed by Flóra Anna Buda (France, Hungary)
  • AQUERONTE directed by Manuel Muñoz Rivas (Spain)
  • DAYDREAMING SO VIVIDLY ABOUT OUR SPANISH HOLIDAYS (LA HERIDA LUMINOSA) directed by Christian Avilés (Spain)
  • FLORES DEL OTRO PATIO directed by Jorge Cadena (Switzerland, Colombia)
  • HARDLY WORKING directed by Total Refusal: Susanna Flock, Robin Klengel, Leonhard Müllner and Michael Stumpf (Austria)

The selection is based on the Diversity & Inclusion Standards of the European Film Academy.
 
The European Film Awards honour the greatest achievements in European cinema. This year the awards ceremony takes place on 9 December in Berlin. The ceremony  is presented by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Production gGmbH.
