Nathalie Dubois and her team of DPA ( https://dpagroup.org ) have started the Awards season with a breathtaking gift suite, celebrating all nominees for the Golden Globes (https://goldenglobes.com/winners-nominees/ ). This splendid affair took place, as always, at the most exclusive hotel: The Luxe on Sunset (https://www.luxehotels.com ). Beyond the Galaxy of famous people who graced the DPA Gift suite: Angela Bassett, Jimmy Jean Louis, Joel David Moore, John Savage, composer Pinar Toprak (‘Avatar’), or Viola Davis, my favorite encounter is with the amazing, gifted entrepreneurs whose products are displayed in the DPA gift suite. Over the years I have forged splendid friendships with all of them, and I keep being inspired by their ingenious and passionate creations. So…may we begin exploring what the 2026 Golden Globe DPA Gift suite had to offer!
As I entered the multi rooms DPA gift suite I immediately bumped into the friendly team of Garikimot Vacation Rentals (www.Garikimot.com ). Now, to keep the tour going and after a long 2-hour drive from Santa Barbara, where I reside, I needed a little “kick”. Nothing better than a scoop from ’28 Wishes Ice Cream shop’ (https://www.yelp.com/biz/28-wishes-ice-cream-shop-los-angeles ). It’s a fabulous “boutique” ice cream company located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. My favorite was, without a doubt, the rich creamy Ferrero Rocher ice cream. You’ll go “nuts” in every sense of the term. You can savor your delight on the spot at their place, or, for guilty pleasure, have a few pints deliver to your workplace and have a party with your colleagues. You will be loved forever! Staying in the spirit for food I was ready to indulge next on one of my favorite homemade brands of cookies and brownies from the one and only ‘Eme’s Baked Goods’ (https://emesbakedgoods.biz ). Gluten-free and naturally sweetened, Eme Aqua, the founder of this so yummy line of fabulous delights, has truly re-invented the art of bakery. On top of being able to order online, Eme is always ready to do special events and catering. I can only salute how brave Lady Eme is in such a tough competitive market. But I believe she IS tougher than the market! Good for you Dear Eme.
While we are talking about delicious sweets, I was enchanted to meet the team of ‘Cookie Mallow’ (https://cookiemallow.us ). They sublimely mix cookies and marshmallow. You will have to taste the various creative flavors such as ‘O’Berry Mallow’, ‘Peach Mango Mallow’ or ‘S’Mores Mallow’! Personally, I recommend dipping any of their creation in a glass of Cognac and at the end of a “Hard day work”! Just sayin’ …Maybe the French in Moi?!
In the culinary gifting of the DPA suite I also was happy to meet again the spicy creative mind behind ‘Sloan Seasonings’ (https://www.sloanseasonings.com). Sloan Foster has been growing her company, over and over, and just starting with her grandmother 60-year-old family recipe. Today I was lucky to be gifted her special garlic salt which I already used for my filet mignon and roasted chicken. Quite a success with my kids I have to say! And let’s add that all their spices are made with only clean ingredients with no fillers, dyes or artificial additives. What you see is what you eat! Bravo Sloan Foster!
After overindulging with foods and the vision of a future vacation at GariKimot in Palm Springs, I was ready to get into fashion and lifestyle mode. First, I met maverick stylist and designer, Anita Davenport from ‘Single Tree Lane’ (https://shopsingletree.com ). She named her company from a small town in Southern California where she spent her formative years. The idea behind her line of clothing is clear and as Anita writes it so well: “At Single Tree Lane, our mission is to create fashion that not only stands out with vibrant colors and unique designs but also promotes inclusivity and environmental responsibility”. I believes this says it all and I was lucky to be gifted a mesmerizing sweater with a very colorful peacock, symbol of Power, Strength, Confidence and Divinity! Just that!
By the way, there was a surprise addition to the glamorous line up of various offering with the very practical products from ‘Stingray instant spot remover’ (https://stingrayclean.com ). They got noticed by Oprah (on the short list of Oprah’s favorite things to offer for Christmas 2025!) and they are now World Famous for their products that will eliminate any spot at once! Not bad for a company founded in the 70’s and as a small family operation. Frankly I was impressed by the efficiency of their products but also by the kindness and sweetness of this successful family. Refreshing!
One always need accessories when dressing up like a Star, right?! Let me recommend two brands that shined at the DPA gift suite: Vielorie (www.Vielorie.com ) and Miliani Creations from Tahiti! ( https://www.instagram.com/milianicreations/?hl=en ) who gifted special guest with original one of kind Tahiti black pearl. Wearing one of their items, as a bracelet, or as earing, will turn you into a fearless Pirate from the Seven Seas. A must have, a must buy! A huge Bravo! to Vielorie founder, Verniese Lorielle Moore, who has excelled with the creations of her unique handbags as a symbol of Triumph, Sophistication and timeless Grace. Verniese’s history is inspiring as she created her line of handbag after surviving a stage 3 lymphoma. She is an artful testament to the human spirit and a source of inspiration for ever woman around the World.
For a final touch to “you, yourself and you”, let me introduce you to two of my close friends and amazing skin products designers: ‘GLO by ME’ from the Vegas megastar Mechelle Evans ( https://globyme.com ) is a results-driven, medical-grade skincare line rooted in science and passion. From wine cork, to glasses, to pendants, you name, they engrave it all! Jill Quinn Babcock is a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor, and it all started when she wanted to make special Christmas gifts for her children. The rest is Her-story.
The Plumery (https://www.theplumery.org ) truly touched my heart with the hundreds of saved parrots. They provide a full-service haven for all species of parrots, surrendered by pet owners. I was very moved by the parrots Erica Grege, a proactive volunteer brought to the suite. All these birds were traumatized by their experience of being abandoned and they are now given a second chance at life. I only can hope you will give them the financial and spiritual support these adorable animals need.
Finally, and because I’m such an avid reader, I had to stop by “the book corner” where several talented writers were in residency for this weekend long for Golden Globe celebration. First, there was my good friend Oshri from Butterflyon Books (https://www.butterflyonbooks.com ). Oshri’ special talent is to write spiritual inspiring books for kids and that can be appreciated by their parents as well. Every time he gives me a new book for my boys, Felix, Max and Rex. This time they got a signed edition of ‘Harry and the Hamster Wheel’ or how to become appreciative of what we have and how to turn our mind jail into a space of liberation and freedom. What a splendid kind man Oshri is. We cant’s wait to read his next endeavor.
Not too far from him, was writer Maureen Anne Meehan who is the author of the Mary Macintosh mystery/thriller series and also for the movie, soon to be released: ’60 dates in sixth months’. She also just released ‘Inferno on the Coast’ about the devastation of the fires in Malibu and Pacific Palisades. Maureen is “force de nature” and a true inspiration for us all. Finally, and since we are all being inspired at the beginning of the year, to make the right choices and hope for the best for we all, why not read ‘Mountain to Cross’ from Abraham M. George (https://www.drabrahamgeorge.com/book ). Dr. Abraham George began his career in the Indian army and over the years, he has championed social justice for the underprivileged in India, mainly. But his book will inspire you, whether you are from France, like me, from the U.S or anywhere in the World. It will inspire you, as written on the cover, to finding your life’s purpose in service. As my, bless his soul, friend and in our Doc, The Invocation, Archbishop Desmond Tutu was always saying: ‘I am because We are’. It’s the realization that We, the Human race, is One, that we all are interconnected, interdependent, in perfect harmony. This is what shined at the Golden Globe DPA suite this year, and in a world in such chaos, that we can unite, rise and march for Peace. Now, seeing that Best Picture went to the Peace activist, Warner movie, ‘One Battle After Another’, I have FAITH (from the Latin verb: To Trust!) that We are on the right path, that somehow, we will be resilient, resistant and overcome all of these dark times we are going through. It will pass. We will survive and be reborn! Let’s be Ready!!
