Edmonton, Canada is North America's Northernmost City with a Metropolitan Population of almost 1.5 Million People. Edmonton is Canada's 6th Largest City, and is known as "Canada's Festival City."

This past October, we Screened Feature Length & Short Films from all over the World, and had Moviemakers from all over North America Attend the Film Festival. We had great audiences, and Sold Out our first night with the incredible Feature Film, THE CHILD REMAINS, from Director Michael Melski. (Opening Night Gala) Our After Party, (along with free food) was fantastic.

This coming year it is a Three Day Film Festival, at the Historic Princess Theatre.

We plan on continuing to expand and grow, as we strive to make the Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival better and better every year...

THE COREY FELDMAN AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE are determined by the Film Festival. The AUDIENCE AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE are determined by the fans who attend the Film Festival. If you are not in Attendance for the Award Ceremony we will send you the Award.

Rules & Terms

FESTIVAL OF FEAR ELIGIBILITY:

Thank you for your interest in Submitting your Feature & Short Films to the 2018 Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival.

The Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival seeks Feature-Length, & Short Films, from around the world in any of the following, or related genre groups. 

Main Genre Groups: 
Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller, Action, Crime, Supernatural, 
Animation, Paranormal, Fantasy, Found Footage 
Suspense, Dark Comedy, Cult, Bizarre, 
Genre-Defying, Experimental 
Documentaries, Genre Related 
Music Videos, Genre-Related 
Super Short (under 10 min)

The 2018 Film competition will open on November 1st, 2017 for all New Feature Length & Short Films, from around the world. We will accept all Submissions until August 24th, 2018.

IF YOUR FILM WAS COMPLETED BEFORE JANUARY 1st, 2017, please DO NOT SUBMIT your Film to to our Film Festival. Anytime, on or after January 1st, 2017, is Eligible to be apart of the 2018 Edition of the Film Festival.

I understand that my Submission is in no way a Guarantee of Acceptance into the Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival. No Representative of the Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival or any of it's Sponsors, or Affiliates, Business Partners, etc, etc has Guaranteed me admission into the Film Festival.

Once a Film is Officially Accepted by the Film Festival, it can no no longer be withdrawn from the Festival lineup/competition.

We will accept films completed, on or after January 1st, 2017. If your film has been released publicly it is not eligible for this competition. (This includes, Youtube, Vimeo, or released anywhere on the internet, etc) If your Film has been Screened Privately, or at other Film Festivals that is fine, and within the Rules. If you do Submit to the Film Festival, and you are Disqualified, the Submission Fee is Non-Refundable.

Submissions are by Online Screener Only. The Programmers watch every film that is Submitted. Official Selections will send their hard copies to the Festival, and/or download links of their Films.

All films must be English Language or English Subtitled.

You will be notified of acceptance via phone or email, after the Official Selections are Announced. Press Kits for films will be requested only after Acceptance.

The FESTIVAL OF FEAR will also request that you send a DCP, or Bluray of your Feature Film, and in the case of Short Films, a link to the best quality download of your movie, so that we can put your Short Film on a Bluray with other Short Films, that will play in the same Block of Films. These are the Acceptable screening formats for the Festival. If you submit a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) for D-Cinema Projectors. Please make sure the DCP file is professionally made and theatrically tested. (A Bluray Backup will also be required for all of the Announced Official Selections, whether you send a DCP or Bluray)

Complete Press Kits for Films will be requested only after acceptance.

All entries into the Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival, give the FESTIVAL OF FEAR the right to use any footage from the Preview Screener and/or Movie Trailer, and all submitted publicity photos and any other materials sent to us pertaining to this entry for promotional purposes, without limitations. This is restated in the TERMS & CONDITIONS.

GENERAL RULES

1 . I have read, understated and fully comply with all submission eligibility information contained below. 
2 . To the best of my knowledge, all of the statements in this document are true. 
3 . This film or video is not subject to any litigation nor is threatened by any litigation. 
4 . I am duly authorized to submit this film to the FESTIVAL OF FEAR. 
5 . I hold the FESTIVAL OF FEAR harmless from any damage to Blurays/DCP's en route or otherwise during the course of the Festival’s possession of the film. 
6 . I hold the FESTIVAL OF FEAR PRINCESS THEATRE, its owners, management, juries, subsidiaries, agents, sponsors, affiliates, etc, etc,. harmless from any and all claims of liability resulting from my entry. 
7 . I certify that I have Full Rights to Enter & Screen the Film, as well as Full Rights to the use of the music in the entered work. 
8 . I give permission for the FESTIVAL OF FEAR to use clips, stills, titles, copy, and/or information from the Film(s) for promotional purposes as required. 
9 . I give permission to the FESTIVAL OF FEAR to screen the film at the Festival as well as any Festival-related presentations, programs, promotions, and/or events, upon Submission to the Edmonton FESTIVAL OF FEAR International Film Festival..

*Entrant’s name, address and the production’s title must be clearly marked on any and all submission materials. 
* For those Invited to participate, we will ship material back (as required). 
*If required, (upon Acceptance) the film must be shipped prepaid, insured and packed in proper containers. 
*The FESTIVAL OF FEAR & PRINCESS THEATRE do not assume any liability for damage to DCP's or Bluray due to improper containers.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The FESTIVAL OF FEAR is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt(s) from any film submitted for exhibition. (For promotional purposes.)

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless the FESTIVAL OF FEAR from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening.
