6th Zurich Film Festival: September 23 – October 3, 2010

All of the 6th Zurich Film Festival’s awards go to European countries. The three Competition Juries gave their Golden Eyes to Serbia ("The Woman with a Broken Nose” by Srdjan Koljevic), Germany ("Das Lied in mir“ by Florian Cossen) and Denmark ("Armadillo“ by Janus Metz). Each award is endowed with a 20 000 Swiss franc cash prize and 60 000 Swiss francs for promotion of the film in Switzerland.

The Serbian film "The Woman with a Broken Nose” by Srdjan Koljevic receives the Golden Eye for Best International Feature Film. The Jury presented their prize to this film for the “exemplary consistency in its directing, screenwriting, acting, camera work and production.” Director Srdjan Koljevic received the award from the Jury President Frank Langella during Saturday evening’s Closing Night at the Schauspielhaus am Pfauen.

The Golden Eye for Best German-Language Feature Film goes to the German debut "Das Lied in mir“ by Florian Cossen. The Jury was swayed by the film’s “convincing and unique implementation of its human subject matter, which deals with the protagonist’s loss of identity and her battle to re-orientate her life.” Director Florian Cossen received the award from Jury President Johanna Wokalek.

The Documentary Film Jury gave their Golden Eye to the Danish film "Armadillo“ by Janus Metz. The Jury was inspired by “the film’s overwhelming power in portraying Danish soldiers during a six-month period stationed in Afghanistan.” Janus Metz received the award from Jury Member Jennifer Fox.

The Critics Choice Award of the Swiss Association of Film Journalists for a film in the International Competition goes to the Hungarian film "Pal Adrienn“ by Agnes Kocsis.
The three-part Jury was won over by the “sensitive portrait of a nurse who finds her way back to life after a confrontation with death.”

The second critics’ award, Variety’s New Talent Award, presented to a film in the International Feature Film Competition by the US industry magazine Variety, goes to "Adem“ (Oxygen) by the Belgian Hans van Nuffel. The Jury presented its award to this film for its “extraordinary actors, its clever directing and its well thought out screenwriting.”

The Swiss debut „Stationspiraten“ by Mike Schaerer took the Audience Award for a film in one of the three competitions. It was singled out by audience members using voting cards handed out during all of the competition film screenings.
