Washington, D.C. international Horror Film Festival

Spooky Movie – The Washington, D.C. international Horror Film Festival has begun the journey to once again top ourselves, with the sixth annual, heart stopping festival, which has become a Washington, D.C. Halloween tradition – October 13 – 16, 2011.
Some of the outstanding films that played at Spooky Movie in 2010 included TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL, THE UH-OH SHOW!, COLIN, S&MAN, EL MONSTRO DEL MAR!, DARK SOULS and THE MATRIMONY. And now, new for 2011, we are thrilled to announce, we have a new home central to all of the action – the brand new, 240 seat Dome Theatre at Artisphere, conveniently located 2 blocks from the Rosslyn Metro stop, and precariously located less than one mile from the notorious “Exorcist” steps.
“We’re excited to be the new home for the festival and to be partnering with Spooky Movie,” said Chris Williams, Artisphere’s Director of Programming. “Artisphere is a new breed of urban arts center that features four distinct performance venues, three visual art galleries, a 4,000 square foot ballroom, free Wi-Fi and a restaurant and bar.”
Located at 1101 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, Virginia, Artisphere is open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
“In our first five years, we have been very privileged to partner with some of the best indie and repertory movie houses in the D.C. Metro area “ said Curtis Prather, founder and director of Spooky Movie. “This year we are fortunate to have an enthusiastic home for the full fest, which will give us flexibility with our programming and scheduling that we never had before.”
Spooky Movie 2011’s call for entries has begun for features, shorts and (new this year) trailers. Trailers can be for existing movies, or they can stand alone. The three top trailers will win cash prizes, and they can be for existing movies, or they can stand alone – either serious or parody/satire. Submissions and information can be found at www.spookyfests.com.
