Vidiots Foundation is thrilled to share highlights from this summer’s programming along with announcements of a new Instagram series and the return of a beloved signature program in September! For more exciting screenings and special events at Vidiots, be sure to check our website regularly. A beloved destination for film enthusiasts, creators, and anyone curious about cinema, Vidiots began in 1985 as an alternative video store in Santa Monica. The foundation is committed to fostering community engagement through film by preserving and expanding access to a diverse physical media collection, supporting emerging and underrepresented artists, and offering dynamic, affordable screenings and educational programs. In June 2023, Vidiots reopened its doors at the historic Eagle Theatre in Northeast Los Angeles.
RENT-A-STACK
Vidiots is proud to announce Rent-a-Stack, a new video store Instagram series (and throwback to a Vidiots program of yesteryear) capturing the distinct joy, nostalgia, and inspiration that can only spring from an unfettered journey through a legendary physical media collection. Rent-a-Stack invites our most beloved filmmakers and artists to browse Vidiots’ 70,000 titles and rediscover their favorites, share their inspirations, and build a stack of video store recommendations for fans and film lovers. Vidiots has welcomed Rent-a-Stack guests RZA, Gregg Araki, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the one-and-only Bill Duke. Rent-a-Stack friends on deck are legends Catherine Hardwicke, Michel Gondry, Jack Black, and many more.

Summer 2026 Programming Highlights ͏
Summer at Vidiots was bustling and stacked with special events, sold out screenings, and many special guests. Vidiots was proud to host the Los Angeles premiere of American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez which included special guests Dolores Huerta, Lou Diamond Phillips, Edward James Olmos, and Luis Valdez. Memorable post screening conversations took place with Gregg Araki and Joseph Gordon-Levitt after back-to-back sold out shows of Mysterious Skin, and Catherine Hardwicke for a fan-filled screening of Twilight. Edgar Wright entertained with a double bill of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Russ Meyer’s Beyond the Valley of the Dolls with legendary Doll Erica Gavin in the house. The ultimate video store movie Be Kind Rewind was celebrated in physical-media-fashion at Vidiots and on 35MM with special guests Michel Gondry and Jack Black. ͏
Fourth Annual Dazed Day
Vidiots’ signature day-long movie party devoted to Richard Linklater’s quintessential stoney classical Dazed and Confused returns for Vidiots’ Fourth Annual DAZED DAY on Saturday, September 26. Join Vidiots for back-to-back screenings of Dazed, an all-day Emporium Takeover with vintage pinball on freeplay courtesy of WALTS, Eagle Rock’s fav neighborhood watering hole, plus all-vinyl DJ sets from DJ Dan Wilcox and KCRW’s Tyler “Boogie” Boudreaux, 16mm psychedelic celluloid mini-shows between screenings, AND a late-night screening of The Who’s tripped out pinball rock opera Tommy featuring Tina Turner, from the always audacious auteur Ken Russell!
