Vesoul awards Vodka Lemon

Tuesday 17th February 2004 on the closing ceremony at Edwige Feuillère Theatre of Vesoul with the screening of "In the Wild Mountains" by Yan Xueshu (China)
at 8.30 PM the following awards have been given out.

GOLDEN CYCLO Award of the International Jury with Iranian director Jafar Panahi as chairman and with Ashoka Handagama, Sophie Lee, Ling Fei and Véronique Prost: "VODKA LEMON" by Hiner Saleem (Kurdistan)
With humour and with an innovative and poetic cinematic language, the film depicts the pains of a society in mutation

International Jury 's Grand Price: "ABJAD" by Abolfazl Jalili (Iran).

NETPAC Award (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) represented by Mrs.
Ranjanee Ratnavibhushana (Sri Lanka), Mr. Tikoy Aguiluz (Philippines) and Mr. Max Tessier (France) : "ABJAD" by Abolfazl Jalili (Iran)
for the honesty of its resonant depiction of the director's own life experience.

Emile Guimet Award (granted by the Friends of National Museum of Asian Arts of Paris): "MING, ARTISTE BRIGAND" by Michel Quinejure (China-France), a film remarkably enhancing Asia and painting.

INALCO Jury Award (granted by the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations, Paris): "VODKA LEMON" by Hiner Saleem (Kurdistan) for its humoristic and imaginative depiction of an ethnic minority living in hostile surroundings.

Audience Award (granted by the city of Vesoul):
"Zaman, the Man from the Reeds" by Almer Alwan (Iraq-France)

Youth Award: "LEYLA ZANA , the Cry beyond the Muffled Voice" by Kudret Günes (France)
