Vermont International Film Festival ready to splash

The 15th Vermont International Film Festival will open October 13 - 18, 2004, to be held in downtown Burlington.

The Vermont International Film Festival celebrates the independent spirit of films by providing a forum for stories dealing with issues of global concern. This year the Festival will present more than 70 films from around the world that will compete for the best film in three categories - War and Peace, Justice and Human Rights, and the Environment. Vermont filmmakers will be also acknowledged with a special, all day program of locally-produced films.

The selection includes groundbreaking of films that shed light on the complex situation in the Middle East, Latin America, Africa. A very special showcase America Now! will give an in-depth analysis and diverse picture of our society today.

The Festival will premiere Robert Altman’s latest film Tanner on Tanner, a satire on politics and filmmaking.

VIFF audiences can also see the original Japanese version of Godzilla which was the "Fahrenheit 9/11" of its time. Both films come after terrifying attacks on their nations and incorporate similar dialogue.

The Vermont International Film Festival invites you to join us for five days of films, panels and celebrations.

VIFF events will take place at Burlington City Arts’ Contois Auditorium in City Hall, Lorraine B. Good Screening Room at the Fire House, and Merrill’s Roxy Cinema.
