U.S. Premiere of WE GROWN NOW to open 59th #ChiFilmFest
We are thrilled to announce the Opening Night presentation of the 59th Chicago International Film Festival: We Grown Now, written and directed by Festival alum Minhal Baig (Hala, ChicagoIFF ‘19).
We Grown Now is the lyrical, heartfelt story of two young boys discovering the joys and hardships of growing up in Chicago's sprawling Cabrini-Green public housing complex circa 1992, and stars Jurnee Smollett and S. Epatha Merkerson. We’re excited to present this Chicago-based story at the beautiful Music Box Theatre for Opening Night on October 11th!
Before the show, we've got a packed day celebrating the beginning of the 59th #ChiFilmFest and 12 days of showcasing more than 150+ acclaimed and exciting new films from around the world! From 5pm-10pm, our Opening Night Block Party festivities on Southport Ave. will include live music, local food trucks, short film screenings, movie trivia, and more. The Opening Night film presentation of We Grown Now will start at 7pm.
Tickets for the Opening Night presentation of We Grown Now will go on sale Tuesday, September 5 at 10 a.m.
See you on Opening Night!
