Treasure Film Festival Starts Today!

The 2nd Annual Treasure Coast International Film Festival kicks off tonight at the Historic Sunrise Theatre in Downtown Fort Pierce.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and events begin at 7 p.m. with the screening of Courting Condi. This unique romantic/political/biographic documentary by Director Sebastian Doggart follows Devin Ratray, a portly musician, former child actor (famed as Buzz in Home Alone) and besotted admirer of Condoleeza Rice, as he prepares to meet her and penetrate her heart, soul and stretch limo. This film is both timely and a classic love story, punctuated by timeless songs including three songs by two-time Oscar nominee (ie Rocky) Carol Connors. Connors will be honored during the Closing Night Awards Gala with the Musical Achievement in Cinema Award and will recieve an honorary mention for best song Condoleeza Condi, I Think of You So Fondly, one of three songs in the TCIFF Best Documentary nominee Courting Condi.

Festivities continue after the screening with a Filmmaker's Reception also held at the Historic Sunrise Theatre. With limited capacity, an RSVP was required and a waiting list is currently building. Those with passes were notified last evening. If you are interested in attending, you must add your name to the waiting list upon arrival at the Sunrise Theatre (Please do not call). Additional passes that become available will be passed out on a first-come-first served basis.

Another opportunity to network with the filmmakers is avialable on Friday at the Tropical Nights by the River-a Director's Party at Club Med which begins after the screening of Flags of Kaveh's Castle (film begins at 6 p.m. at Club Med). Admission is complimentary to the VIP Festival Passholders. All others, admission is $25 per person for this event and tickets are still available. They can be purchased online (checks or credit cards) through the end of today or at the door (cash only).
