Townies: best film from Boston's Zoinks! Film Fest

Townies Brings Home Best Feature from Boston's Zoinks! Film Festival :

Boston, MA - (Monday, August 30, 2004) - The team behind the Zoinks! Film Fest billed their event as a "Wicked Cool Film Festival", and they didn't disappoint. Three tents and one comedy club filled with almost a hundred independent films blanketed Boston's bustling Faneuil Hall Market Place. And in the middle of it all...three filmmakers from Pennsylvania Dutch country.

"Townies" won over the appreciate, energetic, and extremely giddy crowd at The Comedy Connection. David Willis, Zoinks! Festival Co-Director, noted the screening had "the biggest crowd to date". A boisterous Q&A session followed, where the team from Neo-Pangea emphasized their pains, pleasures, and passions to an audience filled partly with Emerson College Film School Students.
Book-ending both sides of the screening were rip-roaring shindigs held at Faneuil Hall's The Rack and Boston Rocks. Each party overflowed with lively patrons, free beer, and captivating wait staffs... not to mention Insomniac's Dave Attell and Police Academy's Michael Winslow.

Unfortunately, our brave trio had to head home the morning before the awards ceremony. Fortunately, the good folks at Zoinks! let it slip that "Townies" was going to win Best Narrative Feature.

"The crowd was great, the Q&A was great, the venue was great, the people were great." said "Townies producer Bob Trate. "We also got free Star Wars LEGOs, which was great."

"I'm not sure how it gets any better than an ecstatic audience, an award, Michael Winslow, and free beer." added "Townies" director Brett Bagenstose. "Did Bob mention that it was Great?".
