TLAgay.com Announces 2011 Gaybie Award Nominees

TLAgay.com (http://www.TLAgay.com) one of the largest online and direct mail DVD and VOD entertainment retailers in the country, announced today the nominees of the 2011 Gaybie Awards. The Gaybies honor the very best in gay-themed television, literature, online journalism and film festivals from the past year. Categories include Best Lead Actor in a Gay Role, Best TV Series featuring Gay Characters, Best Gay Character in a Mainstream Movie and many more. This year’s nominees include up-and-coming independent film actors and directors such as Ben Bonenfant (star of the film Strapped) and Douglas Langway (director of the audience favorite BearCity) alongside heavy-hitters and household names like Jim Carrey (a Best Lead Actor nominee for his role in I Love You Phillip Morris) and James Franco (nominated for his portrayal of iconic author Allen Ginsberg in the film Howl).

The full list of nominees can be found here: TLAgay.com/gaybie

Nominations were determined by the TLAgay.com staff. Winners will be selected by polling on the website. During the month of March, customers, fans and the industry insiders can vote for their favorites in the various categories. Winners will be announced April 15th. Nominees will be notified of their nominations via email and will be provided a special, 2011 Nomination badge to help promote the awards and encourage their fans to vote.
“We started the Gaybies for the first time ever last year, and we’re thrilled to continue them again in 2011. We’re excited to acknowledge the hard work of LGBT writers, filmmakers and performers throughout the year. These annual awards give our customers and creative community a chance to communicate how they like to be entertained. We’re working on so many new projects for 2011; the Gaybies are just the beginning of what will be a very exciting year” said Scott Cranin, TLA Managing Director.
TLAgay.com is the authority in gay-themed home entertainment; offering the largest catalog of books, DVDs and video-on-demand for the LGBT and gay-friendly consumer.
