The Tribeca Film Festival will close with My Life in Ruins

The Tribeca Film Festival today announced that My Life in Ruins, directed by Donald Petrie and written by Mike Reiss, will have a special presentation screening as the closing night film of the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by founding sponsor American Express. My Life in Ruins, a Fox Searchlight Pictures release, stars Nia Vardalos, Richard Dreyfuss, María Ádanez, Sheila Bernette, María Botto, Rachel Dratch, Alexis Georgoulis, Ralph Nossek, Bernice Stegers, and Harland Williams, and will open nationwide on June 5, 2009.

Several of the cast members will attend the special screening to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at BMCC TPAC in lower Manhattan.  The Festival runs from April 22 to May 3, 2009.

"This year's Festival has a number of fun and light-hearted films for our audience to enjoy. We are delighted to bring them another crowd-pleasing film, My Life in Ruins, to celebrate our closing night," said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival.

Director Donald Petrie said, "We are excited and thrilled that My Life In Ruins is receiving the honor of being the closing night event at the Tribeca Fest.   I can't think of a better launching pad for our film."

About My Life In Ruins, opening in theatres on June 5

From Nia Vardalos, writer and star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, comes the uplifting comedy My Life in Ruins.  Georgia (Nia Vardalos) has lost her kefi (Greek for "mojo").  Discouraged by her lack of direction in life, she works as a travel guide, leading a rag-tag group of tourists as she tries to show them the beauty of her native Greece while waiting to land her dream job.  Opening their eyes to an exotic foreign land, she too begins to see things in new ways-finding her kefi and possibly love in the process.

My Life in Ruins stars Nia Vardalos, Richard Dreyfuss, María Ádanez, Sheila Bernette, María Botto, Rachel Dratch, Alexis Georgoulis, Ralph Nossek, Bernice Stegers and Harland Williams.  Donald Petrie (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Miss Congeniality) directs from a script by Emmy winner Mike Reiss. The film is produced by Michelle Chydzik Sowa and Nathalie Marciano.  Executive producers are Jeff Aberly, Julia Blackman, Rita Wilson, Peter Safran, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, with Denise O'Dell and Mark Albela serving as co-producers.
