The Best of the 34th Northwest Film & Video Festival

The Best of the 34th Northwest Film & Video Festival touring program provides an exuberant cross-section of the state of filmmaking in the Northwest. Chosen by this year's Festival Judge, German writer and film critic Heike Kuhn, and first screened at the Festival last November, the selections reveal the diversity, vibrancy and creativity at play in the region's media arts community.
The program includes the Judge's Award winner SARI'S MOTHER, by James Longley, Seattle; Audience Award winner NO BIKINI, by Claudia Morgado Escanilla, Vancouver, BC; MORRIS, by Adam Locke-Norton and Ryan Warren Smith, Vancouver, BC; PORTRAIT #2 TROJAN, by Vanessa Renwick, Portland; POTL: THE PENGUIN ON THE LEFT, by Rick Guinan, Portland; ALL BROKE UP, by Mark O'Connell, Seattle; SOMETIMES, by Scott Amos, Victoria, BC; OPERATION: FISH by Jeff Riley, Portland; Judge's Award winner BY MODERN MEASURE, by Matthew Lessner, Nehalem, OR; and Judge's Award winner PATTERNS 3, by Jamie Travis, Vancouver, BC. (84 mins.) Visiting artists in attendance.

As the oldest and largest Festival presenting regionally made work, the Festival offers an up-to-the minute snapshot of a rich and diverse media arts community drawing increasing international attention. Next up, the 35th Northwest Film & Video Festival, which takes place November 7-15, 2008. Entries are due by August 1, 2008. More information can be found at www.nwfilm.org.
