The 8th annual Lumbee Film Festival will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Pembroke, NC, during Lumbee Homecoming at Moore Hall on the University of North Carolina Pembroke campus. The Lumbee Film Festival showcases bold, original new films made by Native Americans, Indigenous filmmakers, and American Indians, especially members of the Lumbee Tribe living in North Carolina and across the United States.

The Cinematique summer lineup begins July 10 with Psycho, the genre-defining thriller that transformed horror filmmaking. Screenings will be followed by a discussion led by Juan Carlos Kase, Associate Professor and Chair of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Stay after the matinee or show up early for the evening screening to enjoy the Cinematique Social Hour from 6pm-7:15pm in the Jengo's Bar.

The Travel Companion

The Travel Companion follows Simon, a struggling documentary filmmaker, who enjoys free flights courtesy of his best friend and roommate, Bruce, who works for an airline. However, when Beatrice, a more successful filmmaker, enters the picture and starts dating Bruce, Simon risks flying too close to the sun. He loses focus on his own creative project as his obsession takes over. Can Simon keep the benefits and his friendship intact?
