The 47th Nordic Film Days LübeckThe 47th Nordic Film Days Lübeck will open on November 3rd, screening a total of 130 films from the Nordic and Baltic countries between November 3 and 6, 2005. The feature film competition has a very strong line-up, including such works as 'Manslaughter', the third part of the trilogy on Danish society by two-time top prizewinner Per Fly; 'Mother of Mine', the moving story of the evacuation of Finnish children to Sweden during World War II by Klaus Härö, whose Finnish children's film Elina won numerous awards around the world; or the drug scene movie Angels in Fast Motion by Pizza King director Ole Christian Madsen. There are first-timers represented, such as Sara Johnsen (Kissed by Winter) and Maria Blom (Dalecarlians), established old-timers like Algimantas Puipa (Forests of the Gods), Martin Asphaug (Kim Novak Never Swam in the Lake of Genesaret), Richard Hobert (Harry 's Daughters) or Gert Fredholm (The Judge), and up-and-coming festival favorites like ³Noi Albinoi-director Dagur Kári (Dark Horse), Josef Fares (Zozo), Pål Sletaune (Next Door) or Finland¹s Director of the Year Aku Louhimies with Frozen Land, as well as literary adaptations such as Enemy of the People by Erik Skjoldbjærg based on Ibsen¹s play and experimental films like Homesick by Petri Kotwica. The festival also shows numerous children¹s and youth films, documentaries and short films, so-called Previews & Reviews with recent feature films by Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg, Bent Hamer and Oscar-nominated Kay Pollak, as well as an extensive selection of works from or about the region of Schleswig-Holstein. This year¹s retrospective is devoted to Norway, which is celebrating 100 years of independence after dissolving the union with Sweden in 1905 as well as 100 years of Norwegian film. A special section honors the multitalented German actor, writer, musician and artist Armin Mueller-Stahl.
