The 21st Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema

The 21st Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema
November 3-9, 2005
Frameline is proud to co-present the following screenings at The 21st Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema.

WOMEN IN LOVE
Friday, November 4th at 10:00pm
Roxie Cinema
The newest effort from Karen Everett is an autobiographical journey into the difficult terrain of romance, polyamory, self-defined family, and how we try to keep it all together. This film gives new meaning to the term cinéma vérité as Everett unflinchingly films even the most sacred and intimate moments to bring her own experience of lesbian life to the screen.

BLOOD, SWEAT, AND GLITTER
Friday, November 4th at 11:30pm
Roxie Cinema
Winner of Audience Award for Best Documentary at Frameline29, Sasha Aickin's BLOOD, SWEAT AND GLITTER captures the outrageousness and over-the-top performance art of celebrated local drag queens who stop at nothing as they vie to become San Francisco’s next Miss Trannyshack. Queenly Celebrities promised to appear!

**This very queer evening concludes with a special Film Arts Audience AfterParty at The Stud, located at 9th Street & Harrison.**

RAISING THE ROOF / SCARED NEW WORLD
Tuesday, November 8th at 7:00pm
Parkway Theater (in Oakland)
Veronica Selver and Francoise Flamant’s RAISING THE ROOF traces an amazing group of radical women who traded their graduation caps and gowns for hard hats and overalls in the 1970s, making headlines here and in Europe, and transforming both buildings and gender expectations. RAISING THE ROOF is followed by Chris Brown’s SCARED NEW WORLD, the story of three lives living in the same house - a pot-dealing single mother, a writer and a foreign exchange student - three lives separate but intertwined, trying to find balance in unstable times.
