Terra recently began its European film festival run and has already picked up its first award at one of Europe’s largest and most acclaimed children’s film festivals: Giffoni.

Every year the Italian festival invites thousands of children from all over Europe to participate in an extensive set of screenings and activities. A unique twist to this festival is that all the children attending act as jurors, voting for their favorite films and even explaining why. Past guests include Oliver Stone, Robert DeNiro, Meryl Streep and Wim Wenders.

“Terra”, which opened the festival, was given the “Aluminum Gryphon - CIAL Award”. An extensive explanation to why it merited such an important award was also included. Here is an excerpt:

"... “Terra” is awarded by CIAL and the Giffoni Film Festival, both for the technique and graphics used to make the film, and the new idea under the script: if in our universe there are other worlds and civilizations, it is also possible that they are better and more responsible than humans...”

“Terra” was screened at two sold-out showings during the week-long festival. Both were followed by a Q&A with director Aristomenis Tsirbas.

MeniThings’ first feature film will continue its international festival run with several stops that span Scotland to South Korea.
