Tallgrass Filmmakers Lab: Screenwriting For Low Budget Production

Tallgrass Filmmakers Lab: Screenwriting For Low Budget Production
This workshop is not about writing a screenplay you can sell… it’s about writing a movie you can make.
TFF alumni filmmaker and Ad Astra recipient Laura Lee Bahr presents Screenwriting for Low-Budget Production on Saturday June 23 from 1 – 3 pm at the Innovation Center at WDDC. (507 E. Douglas). In L.A., everyone has a screenplay for a multi-million budget movie, but at Tallgrass we see movies with stories that feel like a million bucks (but cost a fraction of what Hollywood churns out).
Attendees will learn how to write emotionally connected action around your uniquely available assets. This will be a writing intensive lab. Attendees should bring a solid synopsis or outlines (or finished screenplays are also welcome). Attendees should also bring lap-tops or notebooks and a stack of index cards. Registration is $25, or $20 for students/ teachers/ seniors/ military/ TFA members.
Bahr will also be participating in a book signing at Watermark Books on Friday June 22 at 6 pm for her debut novel Haunt, published in Fall 2011 (available on Amazon and at Watermark Books) by Fungasm press, a division of Bizarro books. The anthology Demons, in which her short story, ‘Happy Hour’ is featured, is currently up for a Bram Stoker award. She is also an award-winning screenwriter of indie features JESUS FREAK and THE LITTLE DEATH as well as the short ULTRAGIRL. She has several screenplays currently in development with different independent production companies
