Tallgrass Film Festival to screen controversial documentary Outrage

Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA) and Tallgrass Film Festival will present a screening of Kirby Dick's controversial documentary, "Outrage," as the June offering in the Tallgrass Third Thursday series. This newly released film will show one time only in conjunction with Gay Pride Week, at 7:30 p.m., June 18 at the Warren West Theatre, 9150 W. 21st Street, in Wichita, Kan. Tickets for the screening are $9 general admission and $7 for students and seniors.

Academy Award nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick, ("This Film Is Not Yet Rated"), delivers a searing indictment of the hypocrisy of closeted politicians who actively campaign against the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender (LGBT) community they covertly belong to. "Outrage" boldly reveals the hidden lives of some of our nation's most powerful policymakers, details the harm they've inflicted on millions of Americans, and examines the media's complicity in keeping their secrets.

This screening will be the film's Kansas premiere. Filmed in the U.S., the film runs 90 minutes.

John Anderson of Variety had this to say about the film: "... ‘Outrage' is entertaining, brisk, visually interesting and perhaps even thrilling," while Rolling Stone magazine called it "Incendiary." This is a rare opportunity to see a controversial new film shortly after its release. For more information about "Outrage," visit http://login.rcdmail.com/t/r/l/ildhjd/tyttfq/t. Tallgrass Third Thursday screenings are sponsored by Warren Theatres and House of Schwan.

Founded in 2003 by the late Timothy Gruver, the Tallgrass Film Festival is a program of the Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA), a non-profit 501©3 arts organization dedicated to entertaining and enlightening audiences from America's Heartland. Through the Festival, Third Thursday Film Series, Cinema Al Fresco Series, WAMPA Filmmaker Academy, and Special Screenings, WAMPA spotlights the city's venues, cultural attractions and artistic communities.
