Tallahassee Film Festival wrapped

Over the past 3 years, the Tallahassee Film Festival has established itself to be an influential catalyst in the promotion of Tallahassee as a desirable location for film, television, and music production. With 7,185 attendees and more than 200 films shown, the Tallahassee Film Festival has appealed to a wide range of audience members offering essential elements to promote education and economic opportunities.

Since its inaugural event in 2008, the film festival has developed into a major regional event that gives filmmakers in the community an opportunity to make advances in the film industry while at the same time encouraging long-term economic development to North Florida.

“The Tallahassee Film Festival is poised to achieve exactly what the first Knight Creative Communities Initiative class intended. It serves to attract and grow business development that will keep talented, creative people in our community,” said Chucha Barber, Chair, Tallahassee Film Festival. “With the core focus as education and our outstanding partnerships with Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee Community College and Leon County Schools, this film festival has a unique personality that is celebrated by film makers from all over the world and it’s positive reputation growing. Whether you are a film lover or a filmmaker, the fourth annual film festival is going to ‘reel’ you in.”

In addition to the emphasis of economic success, the Tallahassee Film Festival works to provide educational initiatives for students, emerging and seasonal professionals. Throughout the festival, educational panels and workshops are held along with “Question and Answer” sessions and after parties following the screenings to offer meaningful interaction between the filmmakers and attendees. The Tallahassee Film Festival is constantly evolving, redefining their tactics and modify their approach to reach the creative class of Tallahassee.

“I am extremely proud of the work of our all-volunteer festival committee. They are thrilled to be part of the continuing development of the festival while contributing to the positive impact on North Florida’s film industry,” said Carolyn Smith, Director, Tallahassee Film Festival. “We have captured a truly entertaining festival that excites people of all ages. We encourage community members to get involved as sponsors, volunteers, and patrons. Their support is crucial!”

The Tallahassee Film Festival Board of Directors and countless volunteers are now gearing up for the 2011 Festival, which will take place April 6-10 2011.
