ST. PETERSBURG, FL (August 22, 2016) – Film Festival Veterans Joe Restaino and Wey Lin have been named to lead the programming team of the Sunscreen Film Festival.
“Joe is a proven commodity in the film business. Not only does he have a great track record of running fests and programming excellent films, but he is an established Producer with great connections in the Industry” stated Ryan Tarrant Fest Co-Exec. Director.
“The combination of Joe as Programming Director and Wey as Senior Programmer will really help Sunscreen elevate it's programming to the next level. We're thrilled to have them on board” commented Festival Co-Exec. Director Dwight Cenac.
Restaino has founded, and continues to serve on the boards and juries of several U.S. and International film festivals. Most notably he served as President and Director of Programming for Tampa's Gasparilla International Film Festival, Co-founder of Skyway Film Festival and Director of Programming of both TERMINUS in Atlanta and Iphias in Jamaica. Currently, he sits on the Jury for the DC Shorts Film Festival.
He is an accomplished Producer of numerous films including the award winning indie comedy Chu and Blossom, starring Alan Cumming, Melanie Lynskey and Annie Potts, Albion: The Enchanted Stallion with Oscar Nominated John Cleese, Debra Messing, Jennifer Morrison and Stephen Dorff, and Sex Ed, starring Oscar Nominated Haley Joel Osment, which was released theatrically in November 2014. His film Apple of My Eye, starring Oscar Nominated Burt Reynolds and Amy Smart recently sold to a major studio for international distribution.
Wey is a University of South Florida alum and a proud new member of the Suncreen programming team. Since her college years, Wey has helped program the Gasparilla International Film Festival in Tampa, Iphias Film Festival in Jamaica, TERMINUS Film Festival in Atlanta, and even co-founded Bradenton's newest film festival, Skyway.
She has worked as an intern coordinator at Sundance and the Cannes Film Festival for the past three years. Wey recently wrapped her fourth tour as a promotions manager with Campus MovieFest, the world's largest student film festival, where she traveled to colleges and universities across the country and provided students with free equipment to create 5-minute short films.
