The most exciting Halloween eventis around the corner -the 6th annual South African HORRORFEST, with classic & rare movies, brand new indie productions, loads of short films, live movie soundtrack performance, literature, music, Halloween dress-up, and killer give-aways (incl. an X Box 360, DVDs, Penguin Books, Phantom Sambuca, Mystery Ghost Bus Tour tickets, Something Wicked Magazines, Fangoria Magazines & more).

As a HORRORFEST pre-event, in co-operation with The X FEST and Ster Kinekor, there will be a special pre-release screening of Robert Rodriguez' Grindhouse flick MACHETE, starring Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robert DeNiro, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal and Don Johnson! This will be on 20 October, 8pm at The Labia Theatre on Orange Street.

This year the HORRORFEST goes 3D! - with the tongue-in-cheek modification of F.W. Murnau's classic 1920's vamp flick NOSFERATU, here titled ORLOK THE VAMPIRE. (Seats will be limited and 3D glasses supplied).
A double bill of two 45 minute mini-features will incorporate a drinking game - OPSTANDELSEN (in Danish) and BONBONS ROUGE (in French).
The SHADOW REALM Short Film Collection features over 6hrs of amazing short films from around the world in 3 feature length installments across the event (see full short film selection below this message).

Then of course there is the spectacular live movie soundtrack performance to the screening of a classic silent horror movie by THE MAKABRA ENSEMBLE (created by members of TERMINATRYX, collaborating with members of LARK and violin maestro Matthijs Van Dijk). The movie chosen is the legendary 1925 PHANTOM OF THE OPERA starring Lon Chaney.
This live performance is backed by Sound & Motion Studios and Paul Bothner Music.

The Halloween dress-up event is attached to the live Makabra Ensemble movie soundtrack on Sunday 31 October, 8:30pm, and the best dressed / made-up viewer will go home with an X BOX 360!

The official HorrorFest after party will be at the LOVECATS event, an animal charity live concert featuring female fronted Rock / Metal / Industrial acts TERMINATRYX, COLD HAND CHEMISTRY, and WITNESS TO WOLVES,plus the BLACK ORCHID BURLESQUE show,on Friday 5 November from 10pm at Mercury Live (De Villiers Rd., Zonnebloem, Cape Town).
