SILENT CLOWNS FILM SERIES BEGINS EIGHTH SEASON ON SEPTEMBER 19

Live Music to Accompany Classic Silent Films

The Silent Clowns Film Series, New York's longest running, regularly scheduled showcase for classic silent film comedy with movies featuring Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy, and more, kicks off on September 19, 2004. Every show in the series will feature live musical accompaniment by Ben Model, along with an introduction and Q&A with film historian Bruce Lawton.

The series’ eighth season begins on Sunday, September 19, at 2:00 pm with Harold Lloyd's Why Worry? (1923), a favorite co-starring Jobyna Ralston (in her first Lloyd film) and Johan Aasen. Also on the program is Dogs of War, an Our Gang short that follows the kids behind the scenes at the Hal Roach Studio during the making of Why Worry? The Silent Clowns Film Series will run on six Sunday afternoons through December 5 and features four comedy programs and two Silent Cinema Classics showcasing Lon Chaney and Mary Pickford.



The Silent Clowns Film Series is held at the historic Little Theater at the West Side YMCA, 5 West 63rd Street (near Lincoln Center).
