The 5th edition of the Shadow Documentary Film Festival, Amsterdam has announced its first KODAK SHADOW AWARD, a prize for the best documentary from a young filmmaker. The award consists of film stock donated by Kodak Nederland B.V.

The prize has been awraded to two films/filmmakers:

Michael Noer, from Denmark, for his film UNDERNEATH THE SKIN. A rare and soft-spoken portrait of pornographic filmmaker Ole Egge. The film avoids any possible clichés on the subject and presents a sensitive and uncanny picture of a man who recounts a lost love.

Chris Wright and Stefan Kolbe(UK and Germany), for their film TECHNIK des GLUCKS(the Progress of Hapiness), a joyful celebration of a demolished East German powerstation. Full of irony and based on found-footage gathered by the filmmakers, this cinematic essay combines home movies with wry commentary on part of Europe's lost industrial heritage.

The jury consisted of Paul Cohen, documentary filmmaker;
Aneta Lesnikovska, filmmaker and programmaker for Media and Artists at De Balie, Amsterdam; Andrea Meuzelaar, professor of Documentary Cinema at the department of Media and Culture, University of Amsterdam.
