Rome Independent film awards launches 10th edition

From March 18 to 25 at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila in Rome


RIFF AWARDS 2011, March 18 - 25, at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila - this year, celebrates a decade of "independence" puts focus on Italian production and showcases the best foreign films.

The festival will present some 150 works including national and international premiers confirming its reputation as the country s leading purveyor of independent film.

For its 10th edition, the RIFF will host the third edition of the Forum "European Independent Film Production New Profile" that will be attended by some of the Producers on the Move 2010 .This is an initiative launched at Cannes in 2000 by the EFP, which collects aspiring and promising producers from across Europe.

The forum counts on an initial session, which will host a panel discussion with with the Producers on the Move on the current condition of independent cinema. Guests will talk about their experiences and discuss about possible scenarios and business visions in Europe, moderated by the lawyer Leonardo Paulillo, scientific coordinator of the event.

Guests for 2011 are: Simone Bachini ( Arancia Film, Italy), producer of L uomo che verr by Giorgio Diritti, 2009 winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Roma Film Festival; Lauranne Bourrachot (Chic Film, France), producer of Il profeta by Jacques Audiard, who won the Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival 2009; Anne Walser (C- Films AG, Switzerland), responsible for international co-productions; Tam s Liszka (ZIMPLA Film, Hungary), co-founder of the International Festival of Animated Film and the Szimpla Film Lt, founded with the aim of spreading the art cinema in Hungary and to promote Hungarian animated films abroad; Kamila Polit (Prasa & Film, Poland), producer of All That I love, Polish candidate for nomination as best foreign film at the Oscar in 2011.

The second session of the forum will be extended to digital and traditional distributors, focusing on forms of distribution in the EEA Economic European Area and digital distribution, in order to try to give concrete answers and to propose possible solutions to the independent film industry.

The forum will be also attend by Teresina Moscatello, producer of Sina Film, German production and distribution company, in Rome during the Audiovisual and Telecommunications Roman days, sponsored by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany and organized in collaboration with German Films Italy , A-Pictures and the Riff.

The event is organized in collaboration with and has the patronage of:
Cinecitt Luce Filmitalia, Unifrance, Swiss Films, Polish Film Institute, and with the support of major film associations in the Italian scenario:
ANICA, APE, and Associazione Giovani Produttori Cinematografici.
