RIFF Rome Independent Film Festival highlights

VII edition of Rome Independent Film Festival
April 18-24 2008
Cinema Nuovo Olimpia - Via in Lucina 16/g

The VII edition of Roma Independent Film Festival will feature many European and world previews. The Festival will be held between april 18th and 24th at Cinema Nuovo Olimpia in Rome, thanks to the support of Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali del Comune di Roma, the contribution of Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali (Direzione Generale Cinema) and Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali Regione Lazio and Provincia di Roma. Unreleased first works of Italian and International artists will be under the spotlight in the busy schedule of documentaries, short and full-length films.

For the 2008 edition, RIFF selected 20 films, 18 documentaries, more than 15 Italian and 15 international short films, 10 digital shorts and 8 animated videos, which amount to about 80 works representing more than 30 countries.

This year too there will be many different theme nights dedicated to French, Greek and Spanish cinema. Among the foreign films competing we would like to point out: MAO CE DUN by Besnik Bisha (Albania); THE CLASS by Ilmar Raag (Estonia) Special Mention at Karlovy Vary; THE PAPER PRINCE Marko Kostic (Serbia); BAJO LAS ESTELLAS by Felix Viscarret (Spain) nominated at the XXII edition of the Goyas; EL BRINDIS Shai Agosin (Chile). Among the Italian films OSSIDIANA by Silvana Maja and UNA NOTTE by Tony D’Angelo. Seminars and workshops cinema related have been organized throughout the whole week as well as the traditional night dedicated to human rights.
