Richard Dreyfuss at San Diego Film Festival

A Special Evening with Richard Dreyfuss: Saturday, Sept. 26, 6 – 8 p.m. Gaslamp Theater, San Diego
The San Diego Film Foundation will present an intimate evening with guest of honor, Oscar™-winning actor and full-time civic activist Richard Dreyfuss. Proceeds to benefit The Dreyfuss Initiative, a non-profit foundation dedicated to returning the teaching of civics to American education. Tickets are $20.

The event is an exclusive open forum with this iconic star, whose life has been defined equally by a commitment to both his craft and to political and social activism. During An Evening With Richard Dreyfuss, he’ll share provocative insights of America and the power of motion pictures to shape us politically and morally.

For decades, Richard Dreyfuss has relied on intelligence, energy and incredible talent to gain and keep his place among the leading actors of the American cinema. Three of his films are included in the American Film Institute's list of 100 Greatest Films. At age 29, he received an Academy Award™ for Best Actor in The Goodbye Girl. His title role in Mr. Holland's Opus earned Academy Award™ and Golden Globe™ nominations for Best Actor.

Mr. Dreyfuss is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has served on the board of the American Constitution Center. The Dreyfuss Initiative is founded on his passionate belief that our nation is falling far short in preparing its children to become leaders and participants in the democratic system. To that end, in 2005, he became Senior Associate Member of St. Anthony's College at Oxford University in England. While there, he began researching and helping to design a new civics curriculum for American public schools.
