Raleigh Rocks with Freshi Film Festival

A Day of Family Fun at the FreshiFilm Festival
Saturday July 21st, fun starting at 9:00am

Families spend the summer looking for events the whole family can enjoy, events that are entertaining, wholesome, and most importantly, FUN. The FreshiFilm Festival will be a day beyond all expectations for summer entertainment. Raleigh Studios, in Hollywood, California, home of the hits "Ugly Betty" and "The Closer," brings in a new kind of hit on Saturday, July 21, 2007.
The FreshiFilm Festival will host a variety of activities throughout the day. The films of the festival, entered by participants from 8 to 18, will be shown in screenings rooms used by the industry pro's beginning at 9 AM and running until the Awards Ceremony at 4 PM. The festival spotlights work from young filmmakers in the Los Angeles area, across the United States, as well as international entries from Canada and India.
But a fest goer needn't sit in a theater screening room all day - the festival will be a three-ring circus of film activity including celebrity signings, hands-on workshops and up-close and personal demonstrations on everything from stunts to special effects. The Academy of Theatrical Combat will lead a stunt workshop, Make-Up Designery will delve into the world of film make-up, and AnimAction will host an interactive animation demonstration with Clifford Cohen. Director Tim Linh Bui, currently directing "Powder Blue," which stars Forrest Whitaker, Jessica Biel, and Ray Liotta, will lead a workshop on directing. Two up and coming actors, Peter Bisson and Mike Korich, will detail the acting trade, and rising hip-hop star Kevin Paige and cinematographer Dave Guerrero will lead a music video production seminar in conjunction with the Heart 'n Soul performers. And when a break is needed, stop by for an autograph from an animator of "Scooby-Doo" and "The Simpsons," Matthew Underwood from "Zoey 101" or "Dreamgirls"' Mariah Wilson. And the Awards Ceremony hasn't even started yet!
The FreshiFilm Festival will honor its screenplay finalists at the Screenwriters' Showcase at 3:30pm. During this special segment, actors will perform excerpts from young screenwriter's works in a staged reading. The Showcase will be directed by accomplished performer Sadie Alexandru.
The FreshiFilm Festival day will close with an exciting, performance-filled Awards Ceremony, immediately following the Screenwriters' Showcase. A young group of hip hop dancers, seen previously at the Clipper's half time show, will kick off the Awards. The Festival is very proud to announce that award-winning Daisy Girls Guitars Artist Sheyna Gee will perform during the Awards Ceremony. This truly fortunate audience will see the amazing capabilties of these young artists.
The FreshiFilm Festival is a rocking, shocking, and definitely hip-hopping day of entertainment. Be there, or you'll never live it down.
Admission is $10 for individuals and includes lunch. Special group rates are available. For more information on the festival visit the website at www.freshifilmfest.com or call (661) 257-3131.
