Punto de Vista Awards best docus

Last Friday, the 2nd of March, the winners of the 3rd International Documentary Film Festival Punto de Vista were announced on the awards ceremony, held in Civican. The Festival is organised by the Government of Navarre´s Department of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with Fundación Caja Navarra.
The jury, composed by Margarita de la Vega Hurtado, ex-director of the Flaherty Film Seminar, Jaime Pena, director of CGAI, Fernando Pagola, plastic artist, Mikhail Vartanov, filmmaker, and Yael Perlov, editor, decided to award the following prizes:
Special Mention , worth 1,000 euros, to ORANGE WINTER by Andrei Zagdansky, for the use of the dialectic between Dovjenko´s lyrical filmmaking tradition and the live filmmaking involved in the shooting of the political events which took place in Ukraine in the winter of 2004.
Special Mention , worth 1,000 euros, to OUR AMERICA by Kristina Konrad, for its work on the memory which unites the intimate and the collective, the external gaze of the director and that of several participants in the Sandinista Revolution, particularly exemplified by the two women who are rescued from the past and from an old photograph, which is confronted with modern reality.
Prize for the Best Short Film, worth 3,500 euros, to EVEN IF SHE HAD BEEN A CRIMINAL. by Jean-Gabriel Périot, for its intelligent, persuasive use of archive footage which, in the best tradition of documentary film editing, rescues silenced events from the History of the XX century of which the director does not hesitate to offer his own interpretation.
Jean Vigo Prize for the Best Director , worth 5,000 euros, to Tomasz Wolski, director of THE CLINIC, for his sensitive approach to day-to-day life in an institution and a set of characters from whom, displaying astonishing maturity, he manages to extract all their hopes and fears, impregnating the account with a contagious, poetic aura.

Punto de vista First Prize, worth 9,000 euros, to FOREVER by Heddy Honigmann, a film which celebrates love and provides a serene vision of death, a film on the consolation which beauty offers, through which, in her own words, Heddy Honigmann wished to speak about the importance of art in life, an intention which resumes the director´s point of view.
