Poster revealed for #21DocsMX
TRANSIT TO TRANSCEND
Turning 21 placed us face to face with the future. It made us pause and ask ourselves: Where do we want to go? Along the way, we understood that moving forward is not just about changing places, but about asking how to transform, how to remain, and how to transcend.
No one leaves the cinema as the same person who walked in; a good documentary changes the way we see. In the same way, no one is the same after completing a journey. This movement takes on an even deeper meaning within our pre‑Hispanic worldview: death is not an ending, but a passage toward the beyond, where one evolves without ever losing the essence of what originated us.
It is the certainty that stories and spaces pass before us not to disappear, but to remain forever in our memory.
All this reflection on travel, transformation, and remembrance is what gives life to the official image of our 21st anniversary.
Thanks to the sensitivity of graphic designer Sebastián Salas, we translated the philosophy of this edition into a graphic identity full of symbolism, inspired by the closeness of Día de Muertos and by the power of cinema to eternalize life. Thus, the image of the twenty‑first edition of DocsMX is composed of four fundamental elements:
- The hummingbird: A pre‑Hispanic guide between the world of the living and memory; the messenger who crosses worlds bringing good news and light toward the future.
- The sun: A symbol of radiance, rebirth, and the new horizons opening in this decade.
- The film strip: The cinematic channel that captures the everyday and turns it into indestructible memory.
- The cempasúchil flower: The ancestral guide whose petals trace the path, embracing the cycle of life, transformation, and transcendence.
We invite you to join us from October 22 to 31 to experience an unforgettable edition filled with screenings, encounters, and a shared passion for documentary film. Stay tuned to our official channels; very soon we will reveal the official selection and the full program of this cinematic celebration
