Polar Express 3D goes IMAX 3D for Christmas

Polar Express 3D Will Be Part Of Holiday Line-Up At IMAX 3D Theatre In Myrtle Beach. Adults And Children Will Love The Totally Immersive Experience Of The First Full-Length Feature Ever Converted Into IMAX 3D
The Polar Express 3D will pull into the IMAX 3D Theatre at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C., December 1st.

Audiences will become totally immersed in the IMAX 3D presentation, grasping at falling snowflakes, ducking as the train screeches into their lap and feeling the howl of the steam whistle via state-of-the-art digital surround sound.

As the first full-length feature ever converted into IMAX 3D, the film opened in 2004 to great critical acclaim and has grossed more than $60 million in IMAX box office sales since that time, taking its place as the highest-grossing IMAX DMR® (digitally re-mastered) film to date.

"We're excited to be bringing a holiday classic like The Polar Express 3D to the Grand Strand," said Gina Trimarco, theatre director for IMAX 3D Theatre Myrtle Beach. "Our holiday line-up of Santa vs. The Snowman and The Polar Express 3D marks the beginning of a new and extraordinary holiday entertainment experience for the Myrtle Beach area. This year, locals and visitors will be able to enjoy another dimension to holiday shows at the beach. This broadens what our community has to offer the millions of holiday shoppers who want to include a show."

The Academy Award'-winning team of Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Cast Away) reunited for this inspiring holiday adventure based on the classic Caldecott Medal-winning children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.
