Paul Haggis chairman of Ischia Festival

The screenwriter, director and producer PAUL HAGGIS (2006 double Academy Award®-winner for the movie "Crash") is the Chairman of the 5th edition of "Ischia Global Film & Music Fest”; the festival of cinematic art and the cultural trademark of "made in Italy" - from the 10th to the 15th of July at the legendary Regina Isabella Resort & Spa in the isle of Ischia, Italy. The festival is produced by Pascal Vicedomini and the Ischia International Arts Academy, with the support of the Film Department at the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region of Italy, in collaboration with the Kimbo Caffè."I'm proud of the chairmanship, which I assume with much respect towards Italian cinema and its traditions” says Haggis who has major credits from such films as "Million Dollar Baby”, "Flags of our Fathers", “Letter form Iwo Jima” and "Casino Royale".

THE BRAZILIAN CINEMA LIVES
"This year the slogan of Ischia Global is ‘The BRAZILIAN Cinema Lives,’ demonstrating that all good cinema does not come just from Hollywood" said Giancarlo Carriero, president of the Ischia International Academy of Arts.
After dedicating last year's forth edition to the German cinema, the Ischia Global Fest 2007 aims its spotlight at the Brazilian cinematographic industry with a review of both new and old works of directors known internationally. THE FILMS AND THE PREMEIRES
The final program of the festival will be announced July 3 in Rome at the Media Center on via dell'Umiltà. It comprises, at the moment, of film previews distributed from Buena Vista, Sony Pictures, Luce Institute, 01 Distribution, IIF, Lucky Red, Sharada, Moviemax and Minerva. Other additions will be announced later.
The festival also will review the best Italian films of the first half of 2007; hold galas for the presentation of Ischia Awards and the Premio Isabella Rizzoli, an honor initiated by film producer Marina Cicogna.

THE SYMPOSIA OF THE CINEMA
The popular writer/producer/director Paul Haggis, who has worked with such global superstars as Clint Eastwood, will preside over the 2st International Symposium on Screenplay in the Cinema.

ISCHIA GLOBAL, A CERTAINTY OF THE ITALIAN CINEMA
"With its original formula for focusing on new markets and total creativity, and thanks to the unparalleled natural location on the Green Island, the Ischia Global Fest already is among the international film and music events of great interest and world-wide prestige," said producer Pascal Vicedomini. "This established event of the Italian cinema from its first 4 editions has welcomed world-wide participation of industry stars like Francis Ford Coppola, Alan Parker, Neil Jordan, John Landis, Naomi Watts, Val Kilmer, Dennis Hopper, Norman Jewison, Taylor Hackford, Joseph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Brenda Blethyn, Gerard Butler, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Shekhar Kapur, Peter Greenaway, Franco Nero, Stefania Sandrelli and Burt Bacharach, Harry Belafonte and opera singer Andrea Bocelli "
