Nomading Film Festival Makes Its West Coast Debut in Portland

The Nomading Film Festival (NoFF) will be hosing their WinterRecess event at McMenamins Mission Theater on January 28, 2012 from Noon to 4PM. Tickets to the event, which is being co-sponsored by Hostelling International and Moon Guide Books, are on sale now and they include one beer and are only $9. After Party to follow in partnership with Under Solen Media, Boothster, Osprey, Klean Kanteen and Nau to benefit Teen Living Charities, ProjectExplorer.Org, 100cameras and Matador Youth Scholarship Fund.

The event will showcase the same films as NoFF 2011 did as well as premiere the new film from Bassam Tarazi (NoFF co-founder), One Foot, which encapsulates his journey to Everest Base Camp. Additionally, there will be beer and food on sale to compliment the conversation and connections amongst travelers and filmmakers of the Pacific Northwest.

Being able to introduce the festival to the west coast is a dream come true for the NoFF founders. "It was always our hope to have the festival physically be a nomading festival going from city to city. This is our first example of the possibilities," said NoFF co-founder, Mikey Kavalus.

Attendance will top out at 300 people in the beautifully spacious McMenamins Mission theater which is affixed with its own balcony surrounding the lower level to give people multiple vantage points of the screen and the experience. The greater-Portland travel community is a formidable force in the travel world and NoFF couldn't be more excited to bring the festival experience to them. "Portland was always on the map for us. They called for us to come out there and we are happy to oblige," said NoFF co-founder, Josh Wolff.

About The Nomading Film Festival
The first of its kind, the Nomading Film Festival (NoFF) is not just a film festival but a unique celebration that caters to travelers who film, not just filmmakers who travel. NoFF believes that stories caught on film, while traveling, are some of the most entertaining, educating and authentic films created. Born from the non-fiction media production company Nomading Films – producer of a variety of short-form documentaries from around the world, and the soon to be released feature-length film “My Village, My Lobster” – the Nomading Film Festival will take place in New York City on June 23rd, 2012 and will acknowledge the nomads who leave their comfort zones behind and capture their adventures on film. More information about NoFF is available at http://www.nomadingfilmfest.com.
