News from the International Filmmaker Festival 2010

INTERNATIONAL FILMMAKER FESTIVAL 2010 will run 25th - 28th October 2010

The 2010 International Filmmaker Festival is right around the corner, this year hosting an even bigger worldwide selection of films. Turkey, Columbia, Russia, Latvia, Korea, India, Australia, Venezuela, Switzerland, the list goes on. This year's festival promises to be bigger and bolder than ever before, with coverage and films from all over the globe.

With a range of feature lengths and shorts, documentaries, and animation, some to watch for are;

‘Garbage Dreams' a documentary that's won 22 awards, follows three boys born into the trash trade on the outskirts of Cairo.
In the words of Al Gore the film makes "a compelling case that modernisation does not always end in progress".

This year Brendan Murphy's short film ‘Swerve' offers a gripping exploration of love, life and death with an all-star cast; Shiloh Fernandez (Cadillac Records, Deadgirl), Juno Temple (Atonement, The Other Boleyn Girl), Noah Segan (Brick, The Brothers Bloom), Shannon Lucio (The OC, Prison Break) and Chris Ashworth (The Wire, Terminator Salvation). This is definitely one not to be missed.

Following the success of last year's documentary on the rise of James Blunt, this year the festival is hosting a new music documentary on Robyn Hitchcock. The film "Robyn Hitchcock: I often dream of trains. A concert film" promises to offer an insightful look at the singer/songwriters life and work.

Running from the 25th of October to the 28th, the first day of the festival will be a red carpet event held at the Westwood Cross VUE cinema to support the Demelza Children's hospice and the Pilgrims Hospice; both local charities in the Kent area where the festival is held.
Welcome drinks, canopies, along with a film memorabilia charity auction and an exciting opening premiere, are guaranteed to put a spotlight on the festival!
Over the following two days, a series of screenings held at the Pavilion Broadstairs will take place, showcasing the best of the world's independent filmmakers.

At noon on the 28th a innovative conference on product placement will be held with Ian Cartwright, the creative solutions account director at Digital Cinema Media (formerly Carlton Screen Advertising). As a joint venture between ODEON and Cineworld, DCM is the market leader in UK cinema advertising, making this conference definitely an opportunity not to be missed!
Later that evening comes the highlight of the festival, with the all important awards night. A red carpet event, including a three-course meal before the awards ceremony itself, gives you the perfect chance to meet this years independent filmmakers and stars whose work has been shown throughout the festival.
