New England Underground Film Festival will launch this fall

1st Annual New England Underground Film Festival To Be Held October 8 @ Master of None LLC in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT, JANUARY 10, 2011 - The New England Underground Film Festival, a new celebration of the best of contemporary underground cinema, will have its inaugural presentation on October 8 at Master of None LLC, a visual arts and performing arts space in New Haven, Connecticut.

The New England Underground Film Festival is now accepting submissions for consideration. The festival plans to present a full-day line-up of feature-length and short films, and the programming is open to all aspects of the underground cinema spectrum: narrative productions, non-fiction films, experimental works, animation and music videos. The festival will present awards for Best Film, Best Short, Best Non-Fiction Production and Best Director.

Filmmakers are invited to submit their productions through the festival web site, http://newenglanduff.webs.com/, or directly through the Withoutabox.com service. The final deadline for submissions is July 11, and the festival program will be announced in early September.

Phil Hall, contributing editor for the influential online magazine Film Threat and author of the books "Independent Film Distribution" and "The History of Independent Cinema," is the director and chief programmer for the festival. Hall previously programmed the 2008 New Haven Underground Film Festival and two weekly retro film series in New York City, the Light+Screen Film Festival and the Two Boots' Mondo Mondays series.

The festival is latest arts event to be hosted at Master of None LLC, which has enlightened the New Haven cultural scene with original art and photographic exhibits, film screenings, music performances and other creative endeavors. Master of None LLC is located online at http://masterofnonllc.com/
