Mumbai International Film Festival 2008

The 10th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) for documentary, short and animation films will be held from 3rd to 9th February, 2008.

The Festival will return to Mumbai’s ‘happening venue’ – the National Centre for Performing Arts auditorium, which had earlier hosted the festival in the 90s. MIFF, organized on the lines of International Festivals like Leipzig, Berlin, Krakov, Tampere and Oberhausen, aims to honour best creative talent in documentary film making, with a Golden Conch and cash prize in national and international categories. The Rs 2,50,000 cash prize for Best Documentary in International section, is among the highest prize money given away in similarly placed festivals. The entries will be screened and judged by an eminent jury comprising Indian and international film personalities.

The Mumbai International Film Festival will also show-case retrospectives and special packages including package of films from North East and Jammu & Kashmir, Oscar Package, Films on Freedom Movement commemorating 150 years of the First War of Independence, South Asian Films etc. Open Forum and seminars will be organized during the festival to facilitate exchange of views and ideas.

The Festival is being organized by the Films Division of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in close cooperation with the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association (IDPA) and other media units of the Ministry. The last date for receipt of entry forms alongwith sample work is 10th September, 2007, while the last date for receipt of prints on celluloid, beta or digi-beta has been fixed as the 17th December, 2007.
