Milano Film Festival: next september issue

9th Milano Film Festival, September 10 - 19

An outstanding edition

The selection will be based on long established evaluation principles, which distinguish the Milano Film Festival, together with the research and promotion of young emerging directors of high quality films. The films, both short and feature, come from more than eighty countries, including some of the most remote and secluded regions, and they have never been seen in Italy: they will be screened without any review and won’t be divided into categories or other sorts of discriminating groups. Furthermore, they will be presented by their directors.
Part of the festival’s programme will be focused on animation films with special screenings, seminars and workshops for children and festival-goers in general. Another significant event will be the tribute to François Truffaut in the 20th anniversary of his death.

Moreover, the Milano Film Festival will offer once again a rich array of dynamic side events in different areas of the city: workshops and meetings with filmmakers and with the internationally renowned jury; concerts and parties; an area dedicated to installations; a bar and a trattoria placed on the square of the Teatro Strehler and open until late at night.
After the great success reached in the 2003 edition, the live performances of Audiovisiva will take place once again at the Castello Sforzesco, with the presence of a hundred DJs and VJs representing the most innovative European “club culture”. A genuine way of sharing different artistic experiences.

The Milano Film Festival’s organisers have been working all year long on the research and selection of high-quality films and after the great success of the last two editions is now renowned as a global film project willing to reach an always wider cosmopolitan audience. In 2003, the selection jury viewed more than 1400 films coming from 80 countries; 170 international guests were received directors, actors, film experts and 280 other guests booked their “holidays at the Milano Film Festival”, including those who enjoyed the hospitality of many Milanese families.
