Miguel Fereira from Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata Festival team headed by Jorge Coscia (President), Jorge Alvarez (Vice President), Miguel Pereira (Festival Director), Liliana Mazure (Producer)is getting ready for a promising 19th edition.
March 11th to 20th , 2004

Miguel Pereira shared with us the following:
"We are Latin American. For better or worse, we create our work in this continent. It is vital for us to know more about our filmmaking and -with that start- to integrate ourselves to the community. It will be easier for us to open up and appreciate the cultural richness contained in other filmmaking if we are clear in mind about our own cultural identity.
The economic and technological reality of today makes it possible for the region to produce more and more films each time; thus, it was necessary to define the way in which all that creative flow would reach the screen. From this point of view, Mar del Plata International Film Festival is one of the few privileged spaces that invites us to an insightful dialogue and a deep reflection to understand the diversity of thoughts and images that constitutes the great universal tapestry".
The 19th Edition of Mar del Plata Film Festival is organized by the INCAA (National Institute of Filmmaking and Visual Arts.

Mar del Plata International Film Festival with its long trajectory has not only developed the exhibition of international filmmaking, but also the Argentine and Latin American one.
This Festival is one out of ten "competitive non-specialized" Festivals in the world -the highest category according to FIAPF (Fédération International des Associations des Producteurs de Films)- and a natural and privileged stage to introduce Latin American filmmaking. Due to this, and the quality of the films exhibited, it is one of the most important film events in Latin America.
With 150 titles distributed in 13 sections, screened in 12 theatres, the 19th edition of Mar del Plata International Film Festival has got a profile of its own: The Latin American Festival par excellence and centre of a strong promotion of filmmaking from all continents. It, thus, works as a show window and a launching platform for Latin American cinema, becoming a spot of development of a particular look that, at the same time shows diverse aesthetics coming from different points in the planet, articulated in a favourable meeting point for debating and interchanging of different methods of production and ways of looking at filmmaking and the world.
