Look Both Ways rules Australian AFI awards

The AFI Awards are the Australian Film and Television Industry's longest running and most prestigious awards ceremony. Now in their 47th year, the AFI Awards offered a night of glamour and style, while focusing both industry and public attention on the best in Australian film and television productions.

Recognised internationally, the AFI Awards are the premier event of Australian film culture, acknowledging excellence in a broad range of categories that cover Feature Film, Television, Documentary, Short Fiction and Short Animation.

The highly acclaimed film had strong competition on the night and it is an accomplishment to all involved that they won the following awards:
Best Film Bridget Ikin
Best Direction Sarah Watt
Best Supporting Actor Anthony Hayes
Best Original Screenplay Sarah Watt

The AFI awards add to the film’s success at the Film Critics Circle of Australia awards, where the team were awarded Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Editing, together with the three recent IF awards given for Best Direction, Best Script and Best Editing.
Look Both Ways was funded by the Film Finance Corporation, the South Australian
Film Corporation, the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund and private investors.
It also screened as Opening Night Film at the 2005 Adelaide Film Festival where it won the audience award for ‘Best Feature Film’.
“The AFI Awards are the most prestigious awards in the country. It is fitting recognition for the entire Look Both Ways team for their hard work and dedication which has produced such an extraordinary film” said Cheryl Bart, Chairman of the South Australian Film Corporation and the Adelaide Film Festival.
“To achieve such results is a demonstration of the strength and quality of local screen industry and a testament to what can be achieved working right here in Adelaide.”
Look Both Ways has been nominated for the Prix Screen International for Non-European Film at the European Film Academy awards to be announced in Berlin on December 3.
Past winners have included world famous directors such as David Lynch and Wong Kar-Wai.
