With an audience of 17 000 and rising, L'Etrange Festival has been hailed by the most notorious and prestigious french newspapers including Les Cahiers du cinéma, Libération, Le Monde, L'Express, Le Figaro, Les Inrockuptibles

Created in 1993 and dedicated to feature films, documentaries, short films directed by maverick and independent-minded directors from the past and the present. Since its creation, L'ETRANGE FESTIVAL has screened more than 1000 movies from 30 different countries and paid tributes to the following directors for the first time ever in France, and for some of them for their first time ever let alone their home countries :

Since 2001 The Festival is also paying tributes to well-known cult actors/icons of the movie history like Barbara Steele, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Sonny Chiba, John Philip Law and Udo Kier.
