Late Watch best film at Annapolis

Independent Filmmakers were Embraced in Annapolis Maryland

Filmmakers from around the country and the world were embraced in the historic waterfront city of Annapolis. The second annual Annapolis Film Festival had Annapolitans lined up outside the theater. Over half of the filmmakers were in attendance, many of which enjoyed a full house for their film screenings.

Festival attendees were treated to a buggy night to kickoff the second
annual festival with Robert Hall’s directorial debut film “Lightning
Bug” followed by a party with Jimmy Davies new band the JarFlys.

Panels and workshops were just as well received. Kenny Reff’s Lighting Tips & tricks had attendees from as far away as Pittsburgh. The Distribution Panel gave filmmakers the opportunity to speak with industry professionals Jason Leaf from Avatar and Shonda Fuller from Prizmhead Pictures. Distributors took in screenings and were accessible at various events throughout the weekend. Maryland High School students were excited at the opportunity to participate in an open forum with Director Robert Hall.

Filmmakers enjoyed private parties throughout the weekend at the Chaney Art Gallery and Maryland Hall for Creative Arts with performances by the Rob Levitt Jazz Duo and the JarFlys. Many friendships were started among the attending filmmakers.

The Annapolis Film Festival wrapped on Sunday November 7th with a second
screening for Festival Winners and Jury Favorites. Top Honors went to short film Maree.
Best Feature went to Film "Late Watch" which was awarded a $12,000 DVD authoring package from Digital Video Labs, Best Documentary went to “The Royal Academy”, Best Short Narrative went to Israeli film “America”, Best Short Documentary went to “Hot 8”, best animation went to “Oedipus” which was awarded a full Combustion3 package from Discreet.

The second Annual Annapolis Film Festival was a success across the board. Attendance was great, parties were fun. Annapolitans enjoyed it and filmmakers were happy.

“The programming was amazing for such a young festival.”
Bruno Coppola “Stuff that Bear”

“You guys have gone above and beyond”
Jim Goodman – “The Devil & Manny Schmeckstein”

“Congratulations on a great and well run festival”
Robin Goldsmith “Late Watch”

“I enjoyed being a part of such a great festival”
George Zaleski – “Quixotic”
