Jewish identity through Israeli film series at the DGA theatre

Please join us for the JEWISH IDENTITY THROUGH ISRAELI FILM SERIES (Sponsored By Avi Chai Foundation And Gesher Foundation), on Sunday, March 5th, 2006 at the Director’s Guild of America Theatre at 110 West 57th Street, with films and a seminar running throughout the day and evening. The 21st Israeli Film Festival runs from February 23rd – March 9, 2006.

The Israel Film Festival presents a series of films dedicated to the theme of Jewish Identity. This series features compelling Israeli Television Dramas, Films and factual Documentaries that address faith, religion, social conflict, history, and current events. The program is designed to offer educational value as well as entertainment and is geared for audiences of all ages.


The series will kick off on Sunday, March 5th, 2006 at 12:30pm with THE PLACE / LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER; 2:45pm A GREEN CHARIOT / WASSERMAN-THE RAIN MAN; 5:00pm CATCHING THE SKY (SPONSORED BY HADASSAH); 7:00pm THE ASHKENAZIM; 9:15pm JERUSALEM BREW. All Films are U.S. Premieres.

Following The Ashkenazim, a free PANEL DISCUSSION will be held at the DGA Theatre with attending Series filmmakers. Filmmakers in attendance: Actress ORLI SILBERSHATZ BANAY “Catching The Sky” ~ DANI SHLOM DOTHAN “The Ashkenazim” ~ Producer YOVUAL ORR “The Place” ~ “Jerusalem Brew” Creative Producer NISSIN LEVY ~ Director IDIT SHECHORI “Wasserman-The Rain Man.” Photos are available for most of the films and directors.
