Buddhadeb Dasguta  (11 February 1944 - 10 June 2021)

Our friends Martine et Jean-Marc Thèrouanne (The International Festival of Asian Cinemas in Vesoul) share the following announcement with our audience.

It is with great sadness that we have just learned on June 10, 2021 the death of our friend Buddhadeb Dasguta. 

The International Festival of Asian Cinemas in Vesoul paid tribute to him in 2001. He returned to Vesoul in 2006 as president of the jury.

The FICA presented several of his films (Shelter of the Wings - Charachar, Uttara, A Tale of Naughty Girl- Mondo Meyer Upakhyan),... all borrowed from a great poetry reminding that Buddhadeb Dasguta was not only a great director but also a great poet. He had befriended us to dedicate to us some of his poems written during his stays in Vesoul.
