Human Rights Arts and Film Festival only a few days away

With the 2010 Human Rights Arts and Film Festival only a few days away, we would like to announce that the festival will be officially opened by Susan Booth, Senior Member, Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) and former Anti-Discrimination Commissioner of Queensland.

Our exciting Saturday feature films open with "My Tehran for Sale" followed by Q&A with director Granaz Moussavi and lead actor Amir Chegini and special guest Faramarz K-Rahber from the Griffith University Film School.  Our Saturday night feature "A Powerful Noise" follows the lives of three powerful women in their battle against poverty and oppression.

Join us between 5-7pm on Saturday for a relaxing evening of free live music on the Turbine Platform with Turkey2Timbuk2, Jumping Fences, Kooii Trio, Playabout Productions and African Drum and Dance to discuss and reflect on the moving films.

We kick off the Sunday program with "Reel Change" shorts, a selection of short films focusing on climate change followed by a discussion forum with Gillian Marshall from World Vision, Larissa Waters - Senate candidate for the greens and Wanita Limpus - climate change activist and secretary of the Kirabati Australia Association.  The climate change forum was one of the highlights of last year's festival so be sure not to miss out.

Our Closing night film "Prey the Devil Back to Hell" tells the remarkable story of a nation of women coming together to achieve peace and will be introduced by Peter Kennedy.

The HRAFF team in conjunction with Brisbane Powerhouse have been working hard over the last few months and we hope you can join us for an uplifting, informative and inspiring weekend of music, dance, film and discussion forums!

Tickets are limited and available from http://www.brisbanepowerhouse.org/events/view/human-rights-arts-and-film-festival/
