Hull International Short Film Festival

Cinema fanatics can get their diaries out as the schedule for GLIMMER: The 7th Hull International Short Film Festival is now available online at www.hullfilm.co.uk and at selected outlets across Yorkshire.

The schedule covers the myriad of programmes and special events that GLIMMER will hold between 21st-26th April 2009. The opening day of Tuesday 21st April will see Reel Cinemas host a very special Opening Night Taster and the first of the International Competitions (films in which will all have the chance of winning the Anthony Minghella Award for Best International Short sponsored by the University of Hull) whilst the following days will see lunchtime screenings at Sabrini’s Bar and Café in Hull, a retrospective of the animator David Firth and a exhibition entitled Freedom On The Fence at RED Gallery that examines the history of Polish Posters. And why not spend the weekend in the company of some of the best filmmakers from the country with the UK, Yorkshire and Hull Competitions? With the UK winner being awarded the Anthony Minghella Award for Best UK Short (sponsored by the University Of Hull) and the Hull winner getting £500 sponsored by Hull City Council, then the tension will be at an all time high.

Glimmer Director Laurence Boyce said:

“We’re still putting the final touches to the film programmes as we go through the numerous entries that we have been. But you can be sure that the films on offer will be the perfect mix of drama, experimental and innovative film that GLIMMER is famous for presenting. With the schedule available, you can plan your diaries and get your tickets before they sell out! And with festival passes at only £20 why not take the whole week off?”

Go to www.hullfilm.co.uk to download the schedule or visit places such as Reel Cinemas Hull, Ferens Art Gallery, City Libraries, Pave Café Bar, Zest and The Lamp to pick up a hard copy of the schedule.
